Flamingo Blinds were specified by Architects Ash Sakula, from London, to provide Markilux ES-1 awnings for the new Adnan’s Brewery Complex, in Southwold, Suffolk. This project, which is scheduled for completion in late Autumn 2008, features 6 motorised awnings, with remote-control handsets, which are top of the range Retro style awnings, of a style and design that is unique to Markilux.
The design is of stainless steel, with the options of brass and copper end fitments, for a real Art Deco look. To complement the ES-1, possibly the most expensive awning available anywhere is ES-X with the same Art Deco appearance but uses some parts from the Markilux 6000, such as the back bar and arms. Although these alterations reduce the costs, it is of the same premium quality. For example the `bionic` arms – a 10 year guarantee (subject to approved usage).
Flamingo views the all German manufactured Markilux products as being of the highest quality. There are 15 different models to cover all possible situations, from the more basic ‘1300’ open system, to the `6000` fully cassetted model, with add – ons such as heating, lighting and independent blinds which drop from the front of the awning to provide more shade.
With the largest single awning , it is possible to cover, 7m width with a 4m arm projection. The latest addition to the Markilux range are the “Inside – Out” versions of the most popular systems. These are twin-awning systems which accomadate an awning on each side of a central frame, thus giving enormous coverage up of 7m. x 8m giving a 50+ sq. m coverage.
